Alliance Medical acquires German and Dutch businesses

Published: 19th June 2006

Alliance Medical, the largest independent provider of MRI, PET and CT scanning in Europe, has acquired the German and Dutch businesses of UMS. The agreement is subject to regulatory approval in Germany, which is expected in mid July.

UMS has been a competitor to Alliance Medical in the company’s interim and Dutch urology businesses for a number of years. UMS operations are made up of:

·        MRI business serving clients in Germany on a mobile basis

·        A breast biopsy service in Germany

·        Lithotripter services in both Germany and the Netherlands

·        A fleet of scanners provided for interim assignments.

Alan Pilgrim, Alliance Medical chief executive, said: “This acquisition is an important step for the company as it gives us our first business in Germany, strengthens our position in the Netherlands and is further evidence that Bridgepoint, our investors, have a clear commitment to support our development.”

“We will look to welcome the UMS staff to Alliance Medical in July and I am confident that they will make an excellent addition to the team across Europe.”
