Cardiff Chief Executive Wins Care Entrepreneur of the Year Award
Jeremy Nixey, Chief Executive of St Mellons’ based Shaw healthcare, has been named as Entrepreneur of the Year in the National Care Awards.
Jeremy set up Shaw healthcare in 1992 since when it has grown to become one of the top 10 providers of Care Home services in the UK. It now owns and operates 75 care homes, provides care services to 2,500 people with an organisation employing 4000 staff and a turnover of £91 million per annum.
Jeremy received the judges’ unanimous vote due to his outstanding commercial and social success – both in terms of new models of care and for staff involvement in company ownership.
The chairman of Shaw healthcare, Alun Thomas, said: “This is a richly deserved award for Jeremy who is respected and admired throughout the caring sector. Under Jeremy’s guidance, leadership and sheer inspiration, the company has grown from originally being concerned with housing in Wales to being recognised as one of the leading care organisations in Great Britain.
“The provision of excellent care requires a lot of different things to come together such as skilled and well trained staff, inspirational managers and leadership. Jeremy provides that leadership magnificently.”
Said Jeremy Nixey: “I am absolutely delighted and very proud to have been given this award. I see this as an award for the whole team at Shaw. Everyone strives to provide the best possible care and support and always to do this with sensitivity and dignity. It is a privilege to lead that team.”
The National Care Awards, organised by leading care management magazine Caring Times, are the most prestigious awards in the care sector. This is the third year in succession that Shaw healthcare has received an award.
Jeremy Nixey was chosen from hundreds of nominees. This is their 10th anniversary, and Jeremy received his award from popular TV presenter and comedian, Tony Robinson.
