Surehaven Announces Registration of Pembroke Dock Hospital
Surehaven Ltd is very pleased to announce the new, Low Secure Mental Health Hospital at Pembroke Dock, has been given formal approval from Healthcare Inspectorate Wales.
The opening of the Hospital marks the culmination of a vision to offer a superior local facility to the people of West Wales for those with mental health problems. Surehaven Pembroke Hospital will also assist by being part of the solution with the repatriation of patients who are placed out of County.
Surehaven Pembroke Hospital is a sixteen bed unit, located adjacent to South Pembrokeshire hospital. It will treat patients between the ages of 18 to 65.
The £5 million project, developed by Newport-based, Surehaven Ltd, a subsidiary of Shaw healthcare, of St Mellons, in Cardiff, was officially opened in March. Full approval by the regulatory body following a robust registration process is compulsory prior to any patient admission..
Angela Phillips, Surehaven’s Director of Operations said: “I am so delighted that Healthcare Inspectorate Wales has approved Surehaven Pembroke Dock. The inspection process is thorough and very important. We have worked very hard in partnership with them to meet all the standards.
“This has been a team effort and I would like to thank my staff, the community as a whole and businesses of Pembroke Dock for their support over the last year during the building of the hospital.”
The unit is the first of a number of similar hospitals that Surehaven will be building around Great Britain. Others are planned for Mid and North Wales, Glasgow, as well as in England.
Approximately one hundred new jobs including non professional roles have been created as a result of the project in Pembroke Dock and Surehaven have worked closely with the local Job Centre plus team to encourage local applications.
A range of psychological assessments and therapy services from qualified staff will be available for most emotional and behavioural difficulties, including Huntington’s Disease and Acquired Brain Injury.
